πΈπ° The beginnings of vpsFree.cz: How I gave a server to an unknown person
Over the weekend of April the 9th and 10th, OSS Vikend event took place at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science in Bratislava. I gave a short presentation about the beginnings and future of our non-profit organisation vpsFree.cz.
vpsFree.cz has currently more than 1000 members. When we had started it, I was only 17 year old guy, who had taken a server to an unknown person, at the time, to Czech town Mlada Boleslav. I kind-of thought that I mind never see the server nor the person ever again. Fortunately, it all worked out and our organisation is blooming :).
During the first two years, I used to build the machines (desktops at that time) at home or in collage from scratch. Just after couple of years, we learnt that servers should be special rack machines that are made for 24/7 :-).
Unfortunately the slides & video is only in Slovak.
